Easter Block Party at The Hill Church

Posted

The Hill Church in La Mesa had our annual Easter block party and egg hunt, and it looked a little different this year. Due to rain on the Saturday before Easter, we had to postpone until the next weekend on Saturday, April 6, 2024. However, we were still able to offer games, treats, bounce houses, free food, and a post-Easter egg hunt to our neighbors.

Our Easter block party is an opportunity for us and our neighbors to connect in a fun and informal setting and to be able to offer in person invitations to our Easter service. Despite a lower turnout than in previous years, the time was fruitful. Many of our members were able to engage in intentional conversations with those who attended, and one member, in particular, was able to have a gospel conversation with a man and his son, who then attended our service the next day!

Though they didn’t attend the event, one couple has visited the church the past two weeks after receiving an event flyer on their doorstep.  There was a temptation to feel discouraged that more people didn’t attend; however, God’s grace was evident in the conversations had, the expressions of gratitude from the community, and especially in seeing new faces in our congregation hearing the gospel preached faithfully. We pray that we will get to see God’s grace in bringing those new faces to salvation.

We are grateful to the association for the use of the trailer which enables us as a small church to be able to put on events like this for our community.
